Gates, Locks & Lorries
There have been some comments recently about problems with the gates and bringing lorries onto the site.
The gates and locks are the responsibility of the landlord, Cardiff City Council. Since it takes ages to get repairs made, the site committee has decided to take charge of the padlocks. Today, the chain for the outer gate has been adjusted to make it easier to use the padlock. There are now two ways to lock the outer gate, using either of the two holes in the bolt; see photos.
PLEASE ALWAYS LOCK BOTH GATES. We need to do this to stop illegal fly tipping, and stealing.
The site roadways are not designed for big lorries over 7.5 tons and they should not come onto the site. Most of the time the gantry is kept locked and the volunteer key holders need 24 hours notice to open the gantry.
